My Sunflower Staffing Olay ProX Disaster Event

Author esantra Category , , , ,

Sunflower staffing offered me an event through a secret shopping website marketing Oil of Olay's new anti-wrinkle cream, ProX . This past weekend was super busy for me. Ultimate multi-tasking skills were needed for this crazy little anti-wrinkle secret shopper/vendor assignment that I picked up for Olay. First of all, let me clarify, these are the things I was working on this weekend:

1. A 40 hour a week temporary full-time marketing position that pays the bills for however long it lasts.

2.Spring Semester finals for Clayton State University . Most of the finals must still be taken on campus, even though the classes are online. Cramming for the finals alone was enough to make one exhausted by the time my event rolled around on Saturday, my last exam date and the day of my Olay event.

3. My work from home position for internetGIRLfriday.com, which takes around 2-3 hours a week depending on the emails.

4. My new boyfriend. Romance is really impossible when you're this busy, and task #4 took a real back seat this weekend. This is still worth mentioning as it did take time and effort.

So, the event seemed to go off without a hitch. The store did not seem to have much product. Only one Pro-x starter kit was available for purchase, but I just assumed that since the paper I had glanced at stated that the staff member could report zero for inventory, that was all the product that was needed at the event. That was the first mistake I made. Here are the mistakes that I learned from at this vendor event.

Staffing mistakes and lessons learned for future reference:

1. Always make sure that you not only check in with the manager, but that you verify the manager's title. Do not assume that the man standing at the door asking you who you are is the manager. This might be the greeter.

2. After checking in with the manager, make sure that you inform him that there is a shortage of inventory if applicable. Work to get the available inventory out on the floor. Letting the assistant manager in on the fact that your inventory is super slim is a necessity from the beginning. There was only one box of product there, and it was my job to sell the product. This really made it difficult, and since I did not check in correctly with the manager in the beginning and inform him of this, it will probably be my fault. The assistant manager was informed; however, and he did not alert me to any left over inventory.

3. Always keep track of your boxes! Never let them out of your site. Put them in your car when you're done. Sam's will crush and throw away your boxes, and you will be left without U.P.S. labels which cost lots of money.

4. Make sure you take care of the small details like activating your debit card, before you reach the store. These small details can take hours. Don't let them interfere with the smoothness of your operation.

Just keep everything flowing easily and know where your supplies are. This seems like such an easy gig, and it is. It is if you know what you're doing before you get there. The event itself was a fun time of free lotion for everyone! The ProX really works. The back of my hand was taut and you could see a noticeable difference before the end of the day from product demonstrations and sampling alone. Plus I got to keep the kit! Win! Win!

Newsroom.com - Check Cashing Scam

Author esantra Category , , , , , , ,

(Dallas, TX) There are tons of sites helping people make money. None of the sites listed below are get-rich-quick schemes, but they will help you earn some extra cash. TXA 21 Web Producer Anna Gonzalez tells us more.

I have actually received two of these checks. You can return them to FedEx and report them as scams or keep them and frame them. I thought I might use mine if I ever needed to escape the country in a real hurry. That's about all they're good for, and you better be out of the country
by the time they clear. Imagine - you wake up one morning around two weeks prior to Christmas, broke and virtually unemployed, and FedEx is knocking on your door with a check for $3230.00! I was cussing at them all day. My nephews wanted a Wii, dang it!
My Check:

Reviewing all of my notes and downloads, I stumbled across a really awesome way to add some relevant, interesting content to my blog and make money at the same time.
Newsroom.com pays you to embed videos of news content on your blog or website. You can create a blog just to display the content or post relevant content to a blog you have already created. I really like this idea, and I think that we should have a news feature every once in a while. This is syndicated television news from trustworthy sources, and I believe we would profit from having it posted once a week or so. It also makes for easy posts.
Newsroom.com pays, like most sites that feature something you post, per 1000 views. Here is the payment chart:

CPM On Your Site
CPM On Referred Site
Autoplay Video
$0.50
$0.10
Non-Autoplay Video
$7.00
$1.00

Not too bad, but the money won't be made overnight. I like the site, and I think my blog would profit from any videos about how to make money online, working from home, and such, so I am going to post from the newsroom every so often. CPMs do add up, and the more traffic you receive, the more money you will make. I also like the classy educational factor. I do not feel that I am trying to scam the average reader when I use posts from the newsroom to add money. The newsroom probably pays about as much as Google Adsense. I have no idea if they actually pay, and it will probably take months before I know for sure, but in the meantime they are interesting, and I hope you guys love the news posts.

This is another video on the check cashing scam:

Salt Lake City, UT - ABC4 Local News, Salt Lake City, UT - SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) Zephyr Driggs needed to make some cash earn his keep and a few extra bones. So the 15- month old German shepherd responded to an email offering big money for "check processing."

Secret Shopping Is Not a Scam

!WARNING!
Be very careful with ShadowShopper.com's membership area. I signed up for the $2.95 for one month preview, and if I had not checked carefully, I would have had to pay for the entire year (about $59.95) at once when the month ran out! I really like the service, and I would not have cancelled it, but I do not have time for some of the assignments. What I do have time for, I can sign up for elsewhere. I also cannot afford to incur the extra $14.95/mo. charge because I am working on publishing my website, which should cost about that much per month.

MysteryShop.org - Completely Scam Free

MysteryShop.org, become a mystery shopper completely free! Sign in, search for assignments, apply to assignments, and have fun mystery shopping. This site features a lot of listings for mystery shopping at absolutely no charge to you! I think I might cancel my subscription to ShadowShopper. The $2.95 introductory price was awesome, and it does feature more jobs. I feel that free is usually best, especially when the membership goes up to $14.95 a month. I usually have earned that much by then.

This is the best free secret shopping site that I have found so far. Let me know if you find a better one.

Secret Shopping Is Not a Scam

Secret Shopping is actually not much of a scam. It is a bit of a hassle, but usually worth it. You ACTUALLY get paid for doing it. Usually you do use some resources such as gas or eating out. I have made about $50 so far in 3 months with no investment. I started doing this before the blog, but I am going to include it because it is a legitimate work at home opportunity for those of you who need pocket change. I am not going to call it an attempt because I have already attempted it. It could probably be done professionally if you signed up with a few companies. Maybe I will try that. I will update you with information about every secret shop as I shop it.

So far I have secret shopped my local Harley Davidson Motorcycle shop, Sprint, and Best Buy. You would be amazed at the service I have to report. Sometimes you do run into awesome service, but not very often.
DSG is my favorite service and is absolutely free! I mean you will never have to give them ANY money. For those of you who think Harley Davidson is neat, try Bare International. They usually pay around $20 per shop. I thought it was really fun to get dressed in black and go shop for a helmet while I looked at the motorcycles and drooled.

The only drawback I can think of is that it usually takes 30-40 days to receive a check. For those of you, like myself, who prefer instant gratification and paypal, you will be frustrated with this method, but it does actually produced cold, hard cash in the end.

Money Invested: $0 + gas
Time Invested: Usually 2-3 hours per shop with administrative duties and the shop combined
Money Earned: $50 for 3 shops!
