One of the things that I really love about the show Pretty Little Liars is that it's so unrealistic. It's so unrealistic that it's funny! I mean, no one would actually be intrigued or glad to hear about a group of teenage girls getting cyber bullied and harassed by some mysterious person that probably killed their best friend. But it makes for a really great plot for a TV show and apparently a book series too.

Also, what teenage girl could actually pull looks together like they do? Certainly not me when I was their age, but it's a look that I would like to achieve myself. So I went online to see if I could find a guide on how to do my makeup like theirs. While I was looking, I saw the site CLEARWirelessinternet4g.com and after I looked through it some, I decided to change over my apartment's internet access to it.

I was surprised by how many guides there were online to get the Pretty Little Liars makeup look! I guess I'm not the only one! I have a date this weekend that I can't wait to try out a smoky eye for, a la Hannah.

Not sure if Google's new policies regarding original content and page rank have anything to do with it, but I finally have a Google Page Rank! Awesome. Not bragging or anything, but I got so excited this morning to see my little number 1! Google Page Rank can really open lines of revenue for you as far as sponsored posts and advertisers are concerned.

For those of you who do not know what Google Page Rank is:

eHow Closing Writer’s Compensation Program (WCP)

Demand Media Takeover...

I think it is so sad about the Demand Media takeover and now the closing of the eHow Writer’s Compensation Program (WCP). If you are anything like me, eHow was one of the ways that you began making money online. It seems sad to me that a site that had its roots in revenue sharing has now closed that program and essentially shut off the faucet to the writers that helped to make them who they are in the first place. At the same time I am grateful to the company that showed me a great deal about how internet marketing works. I suppose no line of online revenue really lasts forever, but I had gotten used to the income stream...

Demand Media has taken over. You can still make money with them, but the requirements are much more demanding. Most of the original articles are being removed, and new ones are subject to editing and rejection that mean a huge decrease in writer profits because the articles take so much longer to complete. Please comment if you have had positive experiences with Demand Media, or if you like the change.

Getting some inspiration for our green game room

We decided that rather than just give our whole home a green makeover, we would adjust our habits and focus on two of the rooms that we waste the most energy in, our game room and our kitchen. We just use so much energy in both of those rooms, so we thought that would make a huge green difference in our home.

Right now we're working on finding some easy changes to make in our game room. While I was online the other day trying to get some ideas for that, I happened across some energy rates information in New York and read through it. After we looked through it together as a family, we decided to switch over our energy plan as a green step in the right direction. That will help not only in our game room and kitchen, but all over our home!

One of my favorite game room ideas was to switch out some of our gaming equipment with some that's made out of recycled materials. We found a really good dartboard that was made out of recycled cork. It's also just really cool and modern looking too.

Sometimes people tell me that they have nothing to sell on eBay. Wrong! People are always looking for other people’s junk. Here are some ideas that you might not have thought of before today:

Old Keyboard Keys – the keyboard does not have to work, and probably shouldn’t. People will pay you good money for the keys. This is a great sales technique if you have spilled cream soda in your laptop and can no longer use it.
Old clothing – some people will pay top dollar for your used clothing and shoes, especially designer brands and brands like Polo, Old Navy, etc.
Other junked electronics – people will pay you for things they can repair
Working car parts – especially good idea if your car isn’t running at the moment.
Never opened perfume, lotion. or unexpired makeup
Try anything once – the fees are low.

Homemade Ranch Dressing

In the Rhoades household, we go through a large amount of ranch dressing. I'm the only one who doesn't like it and my husband and kids dip almost every kind of food in it. In other words, it's tough to make sure that we're in supply of ranch dressing. So I'm going to try and make it on my own as a way to cut back a little bit on expenses.

I've never made ranch dressing before though so I went online to try and figure out an easy recipe that would be close to the kind that my family loves. I found several different recipes with my Clear wireless internet, but after I looked through them I found one that I thought sounded pretty close to ! their favorite kind.

Luckily, my family really did like the DIY ranch dressing. At first the kids were afraid to try it when they heard that I had made it instead of buying the bottle that they've come to recognize. But my tough critics were pleased.

StoresOnline.com, or People CAN Change

StoresOnline.com did invite me to a wonderful, inspirational conference where they gave a pretty convincing lecture on their website product. The lecture lasted about three hours and involved a free meal. They charge thousands of dollars to build websites, which can be reasonable. The company does offer a legitimate work from home idea with lessons on how to market the legitimate work from home idea.

Pros:

Lessons and information including videos on how to build the website, manage the products, page and design management, eCommerce administration, CRM, and a vast knowledge base.
Programmers will build your site for you.
Extensive site builder with many eCommerce specific tutorials and design elements.

Cons:

This company has an F by the BBB rating.
The company’s customer service department is only open on the weekends.
This company has been sued for 7.6 million dollars.

The company has changed a lot since their lawsuit, and I do believe that the BBB rating probably mostly reflect the lawsuit. Maybe this company has made some positive changes? I did sign up for the $99.99 free trial (my guest and I split the cost). I do not intend to purchase the website or the $3000 custom build option that I am slated to attend another meeting for because I am capable of designing my own website. The trial does have a lot of information that I do think is very useful, and I intend to apply it to my new website. I would not recommend spending or purchasing over the $29.99 monthly charge. With the $29.99 offer, you would receive their PRO version for $29.99 a month instead of $300.00 a month. GoDaddy charges $50 a month for about the same service. This charge and the benefits that come with it are not a bad deal overall. It actually beats out what Go Daddy charges, but you have to take a chance on a kid with a bad reputation. I believe that people CAN change. The $3000 charge may not be a bad deal, either, but unless your idea for a web store is tested, tried, and proven to make money, you might not want to invest that much money into it. Making money online via a website is not as easy as their sales representatives would have you believe. Or maybe it is?

While attending an on campus college course, my friend CeCe told me about Arise.com. Here you can apply to work from home. You can work from home doing things like answering the phones, email, and other administrative tasks. So, I went to check the site out, and here’s what I found (all of this information can be found and is quoted from www.arise.com):

How to Survive The Work From Home Boredoms

Working from home is often not as nice as it sounds on television. It is often filled with 8 to 10 hours of computer work, phone work, or writing in which no one is around to communicate with. Working from home can be as demanding and boring as any old day job out there, and is often more so with little interaction from the outside world save the computer screen. This is how I overcome the work from home boredom streaks that accompany working from home online:

Naps – 10 to 25 minute naps can be utilized during extreme periods of boredom. Nap as often as you like as long as it keeps you going. Make sure you’re clocked out!

Starbucks – buy the espresso and make coffee with it. Works like a charm. You can complete endless hours of snore worthy work from home tasks just by adding Hershey’s dark chocolate and some cream.

Cats – Get yourself a cat or small, quiet dog to help stave off the boredom. I recommend the local animal shelter. Get one at least three years old so that no potty training is necessary.

If, and I do mean if, you can import your blogs and other items here, you could gain some exposure. I am definitely having some trouble importing all three of my blogs, and I can only seem to get my Facebook account to attach to RedGage’s services. I am sure that it does work because so many others have used it, but I am not sure how! Ha! Don’t be too afraid that your website will fail. RedGage’s doesn’t work 100% either.

I always give sites like this my trash email. They’ll spam you. ZDNET sends me upwards of three emails per day sometimes. Okay, maybe not that much, but close. Paid product reviews information via FTC Guidelines can be found at the FTC website. A short summary of the guidelines goes something like this:
If someone sends you a free product or pays you to review a product, you must disclose that relationship. The lines aren’t very clear. For example, you can disclose from your About Me page if you would like. I wonder what kind of effect the new guidelines will have on sites that operate as paid review sites for many different products and companies. What do you think of the new guidelines?

Here is an official review of the FTC Guidelines:

“FTC Publishes Final Guides Governing Endorsements, Testimonials

Changes Affect Testimonial Advertisements, Bloggers, Celebrity Endorsements

The Federal Trade Commission today announced that it has approved final revisions to the guidance it gives to advertisers on how to keep their endorsement and testimonial ads in line with the FTC Act.

The notice incorporates several changes to the FTC’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, which address endorsements by consumers, experts, organizations, and celebrities, as well as the disclosure of important connections between advertisers and endorsers. The Guides were last updated in 1980.

Under the revised Guides, advertisements that feature a consumer and convey his or her experience with a product or service as typical when that is not the case will be required to clearly disclose the results that consumers can generally expect. In contrast to the 1980 version of the Guides – which allowed advertisers to describe unusual results in a testimonial as long as they included a disclaimer such as “results not typical” – the revised Guides no longer contain this safe harbor.

The revised Guides also add new examples to illustrate the long standing principle that “material connections” (sometimes payments or free products) between advertisers and endorsers – connections that consumers would not expect – must be disclosed. These examples address what constitutes an endorsement when the message is conveyed by bloggers or other “word-of-mouth” marketers. The revised Guides specify that while decisions will be reached on a case-by-case basis, the post of a blogger who receives cash or in-kind payment to review a product is considered an endorsement. Thus, bloggers who make an endorsement must disclose the material connections they share with the seller of the product or service. Likewise, if a company refers in an advertisement to the findings of a research organization that conducted research sponsored by the company, the advertisement must disclose the connection between the advertiser and the research organization. And a paid endorsement – like any other advertisement – is deceptive if it makes false or misleading claims.

Celebrity endorsers also are addressed in the revised Guides. While the 1980 Guides did not explicitly state that endorsers as well as advertisers could be liable under the FTC Act for statements they make in an endorsement, the revised Guides reflect Commission case law and clearly state that both advertisers and endorsers may be liable for false or unsubstantiated claims made in an endorsement – or for failure to disclose material connections between the advertiser and endorsers. The revised Guides also make it clear that celebrities have a duty to disclose their relationships with advertisers when making endorsements outside the context of traditional ads, such as on talk shows or in social media.

Fuel my blog is a new site that I discovered while stumbling around the world wide web. Not only can you register your blog for review and increase your blog readership, you may also sign up for product testing.

Product testing involves receiving free products at home that you review and then posting a review for the product on your blog. You sign up for this while registering your blog. It really is a nice opportunity for poor bloggers everywhere who just don’t have the time to worry about page rank. At least you get some nice bonuses. I recommend writing real reviews that honestly reflect your opinions. In my opinion, bad publicity can even be better than good publicity in some cases.

In any case, it is another place to register your blogs for readership. I hope you enjoy the blog group and gets lots of free stuff in the meantime.

Making a video for your online product is easy! Software usually comes pre-installed if you have Windows Vista. I used Windows Movie Maker and a couple of images edited with Gimp to create my cheesy commercial for my online coupon e-book, which is happily selling around 2 copies a week! My little tiny coupon e-book sales are making me so happy.

I had to make this commercial for my Digital Media course, but it is definitely a great marketing tool. Added to the fact that you’ve created a video, you now have the opportunity to post it to YouTube, which should get you at least 4 views!

Windows Movie Maker is so easy to operate that it is almost self explanatory, and background commercial music can be downloaded for free at http://freeplaymusic.com/ among other sites. Just Google free background music or something like that. This really is not as complicated as I thought from watching similar videos on YouTube. I encourage you to experiment with the software and try making your own videos.

Also, Gimp is a great image editing software that is open source and totally free. It can be downloaded at http://files.uberdownloads.com/apps/gimp/index.php. It is a great tool for bloggers and such to use. Create your own photos with frames and special effects using Gimp. Have fun creating your commercial.

Websites – Now Hiring

Another great source of online employment is websites themselves. My temporary full-time employment outside my home has ended, and I am back working online part-time for a website that I do not care to disclose here – you might be competition. Although I did want to disclose a number of online sites that do offer employment as well.

1. Google – Yes, I said Google. Google is a huge online employer. While all positions might not be from home, you may be able to find a position that is from home. WorkforceLogic is recruiting part-time telecommuters with fluency in Spanish to help with Quality Evaluation for websites for Google Inc., the search engine company based in Mountain View, California. You can find more opportunities by searching Google jobs at Google Jobs.

2. StumbleUpon is now hiring. The Community Manager position looks as if it is a work from home position, but does not specify. There are other open positions as well.

3. GoDaddy is hiring. Most positions are listed at a physical location, but some positions do list flexible as well as the physical location, and who knows, you may find one near you.

4. The Examiner.com is also hiring writer and freelancers for telecommuting positions. The work would be the most fun ever! The Examiner publishes some of the best work on the planet!

5. TheSearchGuru.com is hiring Pay Per Click Specialists through LinkedIn. The pay isn’t fantastic, but the qualifications seem simple to meet for most website gurus.

6. EssayEdge.com is hiring both Freelance Application Essay Editors and Freelance Resume Writers for telecommuter positions. Peterson’s is world famous for their education related products and this would be a great, reliable, real work from home position, granted you were hired.

How to Host a WordPress Blog on GoDaddy

Today I am starting a new blog on going to school online. No Google Adsense can be displayed on WordPress! Oh no! Why spend all the time writing only to never be reimbursed for your efforts. Never having hosted a blog before, I have to figure out how to host this blog on GoDaddy! What fun! If you can’t smell the sarcasm already, that’s not my fault.

Step 1:
Start your blog on Wordpress – more complicated than it should be, and right now I am seriously considering giving up and switching to Google Blogger. Alas, I need the WordPress experience, and hosting is not really that expensive.

Step 2:
Google search for how to host your blog on GoDaddy. I am trying to purchase the 3 month hosting for WordPress, but can’t decide if you need the Economy posting as well…. What to do? You would think as an IT student, I would know how to host a blog… Hahahaha! After reviewing an eHow article: http://www.ehow.com/how_2028348_host-blog-using.html, I decided to just call GoDaddy.

Step 3:
After calling GoDaddy, I walked through the steps and paid around $80 to host my stupid new blog on GoDaddy for one year. I plan to upgrade to Deluxe and add my new coupon eBook site to the plan after January, which is the only way to prevent losing financial aid for a couple lousy eBook sales. I shell out my $80 bucks to the very helpful smooth-talking man on the other end just to learn that some kind of free hosting comes with the domain name – you have to have some kind of banner, but it’s free. Ask before you buy if you’re as low on cash as I stay. Anyway, it comes with email, Google advertising, and increasing site visibility or some BS like that. The best part is, if you change your mind, the hosting is refundable on a monthly basis!

Step 6:

Turns out that I actually got the wrong domain name – now they are setting up the right one for me. This is partially my fault. This was the domain name for the website for the coupon eBook that I was originally setting up. This takes another hour.

Step 7:
Hunt for a million years for a WordPress theme. Fill in all necessary information. Decide to sleep and fill in the rest later.

In any case, the WordPress can be done right through GoDaddy! It is easy, simple, and expensive. Why did I do this? I’ll let you know later if it makes any money. I do get free Google Adsense advertising…

How to Set Up Your Own Website From Home Using Your Very Own Servers For the Cost of a Domain Name

The eBook has been doing well, slightly. To be honest, it makes around $20 a month, but I have not even begun to market it. I have been thinking about designing a website for it, and I truly need an inexpensive website for this purpose as it is likely to span around 3-4 pages, if that. You can set up your own website from home. Pros include a website for the cost of the domain name only, while cons include the need to keep the servers running and decreased security.

So, for this project, I would recommend an old pc that you have somewhere.

The first step is to download the WAMP server. This is combination of Apache, MySQL, and PHP that you can use to set up your server. ( If you are running Apple or Linux, you may download alternate versions such as LAMP. AMP stands for Apache, MySQL,and PHP, and you should be able to find a compatible version via a Google search. ) It can be downloaded here:

Maker sure your ports are open correctly and your servers stay on, and voila – your own website with no charge for hosting except electricity! How to Publish Your E-book Online

Well, the e-Book is finally finished and ready for publication. Now what? I consulted some eZine articles and an eHow article, How to Sell One Million ebooks on the Internet, in order to find the best way to market, publish and sell my e-book. I will be honest, the process did not take long. I mainly just wanted to get the e-book done and out. It is a quality e-book with a good subject that isn’t widely written about. My idol makes around $10,000 a month from his LEED e-book.

I cannot compete with him. This guy makes like 20,000 a month total. My figure is more like $50 - $100 a month, but I am working temporarily and going to school right now. This is my side venture. Maybe one day, I will be able to pursue it full-time, but it is really my hobby. Visit his site for some really good information about how to make real money.

For the topic of my e-book, I chose “The Complete Online Coupon E-book”. It is chock full of information about how to find coupons online, and is virtually my other blog, page for page, all in one package. I am thinking of retiring the coupon blog for one about going to school online, which seems to interest more people.

So far, I have sold zero copies. Tangible items are easier for me to sell – things like clothing, laptops, and coupons themselves. I find electronic information like e-books and computer programs to be lousy sellers, but Pat has had so much luck with his – which is so much more specialized, etc. than this one, that I decided to try it. Since I am finishing the blog and starting another today, it also gave me a good stopping point.

I wrote my e-book in Microsoft Word 2007, which now has the ability to save files in pdf (Adobe Acrobat Reader) format for easy e-book writing. I published the e-book using the four publishing methods listed below. It has yet to sell a copy, but it has only been around 20 hours. My goal is to sell at least 10 copies before investing in any advertising, etc. I would hate to waste advertising dollars on something that is not going to be successful at all, and I really haven’t had much luck with digital media. If you have an excellent topic like Sam, I would recommend it. Otherwise, I’ll probably stick to clothing, etc. on eBay.

1. eBay – eBay is a good site to publish your e-book, I guess. eBay is always a good method to market just about anything. Here is a link to my eBay advertisement if you would like to see an example of a published e-book on eBay.

Most anything sells on eBay. Grilled cheese pictures of the Virgin Mary, etc. Why not my e-book? First, they want you to use some type of classified format, but I just bypassed that. Just change the keywords in your title. A short summary and $2.15 later, my e-book was up and running. Now the little e-book is just waiting on a purchaser.

2. Tradebit – You must register for an account at Tradebit. Click here to register. There are no fees, etc. to sell your product, but a fee is taken from the sell of your product. In other words, if you sell your item for $4.99, Tradebit will probably make some type of fee from it, usually around $1 for that much, and you will receive $3.99 for the sale of your e-book. Other might sell your e-book for you and make a commission similar to Clickbank, etc. Tradebit is a good starting point, and you can list your item for free. You can also sell music, etc. there. 3. Lulu.com – Lulu is a wonderful site for authors. You can package and sell your ebook here, and they even have marketing packages available. The marketing packages are too much for me, but you may find them useful. Marketing the e-book is probably the most important part of publishing your e-book. If I sell my 10 copies, I will probably market more. Who knows? At Lulu.com, you select sizes, bindings, etc., upload your files, build a cover, set the price, and promote your book all in one place. I find Lulu.com to be a great place for authors, and I would recommend it to anyone with a manuscript.

4. MobiPocket – Amazon e-books supposedly are sourced from MobiPocket now. I’m not sure. I listed my book here as well.

5. I have also submitted the book to CreateSpace.com. I am not sure if they will accept the manuscript, but at least I tried. CreateSpace is also an excellent source when it comes to publishing a book. This is Amazon.com’s way to put your book in actual print form and sell it on Amazon.com, and it’s free!

Some time ago now, I signed up for eJury.com – the online trial experience. This is a site where you sign up to be a juror and make money online by judging a trial before it ever happens. This gives the lawyer in the trial a better idea of what the verdict might be before he goes to trial. It also gives him or her ideas and new perspectives in the case. This is by far one of the most interesting ways to make money online.

The pay is nothing to make a living from. Considering that it took 3-6 months after signing up to be an online juror before I received an actual case in my email inbox. The pay is $5 to $10 per case, and you will be informed of how much each case is before taking it. It takes around 30 minutes to review the case, fill in the form, and give your official opinion. In the mail, there was this magazine, Home Business Connection. I don’t think I subscribed, but maybe I can find one legit home business opportunity to try for free. I do not like initial investments. Usually there can be found a way to access the same opportunity for free elsewhere, so I steer clear of upfront business investment type payments. Here are some links that I looked into, some of which cost money.

1) http://www.brokeropp.com/program-details.html – This link advertises cashing in on the bad economy by brokering mortgaged homes. It’s only $195 for the “building wealth together kit”. I am helping to build someone’s wealth if I buy this…

2) http://www.easypath2wealth.com/index.php?ID=15356 – Easy Path to Wealth? I have to pay to sell vacations. NO ONE is going on vacations this year. Are they supposed to use their unemployment or the money cut from their salaries? Not that promising of an opportunity for me. My friends don’t have any money.

3) http://nopennypockets.homestead.com/ – well the website didn’t cost them much. This is a portal to another website, someone’s affiliate marketing idea. Let’s see.. “The Perfect Home Based Business”…What could it be? Robert Kiyosaki from Rich Dad Poor Dad endorses it, and he is one of my heroes. I think it’s selling vitamins? Amazing Sublingual B-12… Hmmm…I can get B12 for like $3. I don’t know if this one is for me.

4) This is a very informative video on turnkey websites so that you will be aware of exactly what I mean:

http://www.freewebsitecenter.com/ – this is a turnkey website! I was really interested in those a few months ago. Your only responsibility is to pay for and advertise the website. These are pretty expensive, although cheaper than I expected. Psychic, Adult, Sports and Dateline 900 numbers are the areas that this company specializes in. These seem like pretty popular topics. I am skeptical. To order by PayPal, you have to call on the phone. I think I should try to reach this business by phone first.

I just don’t see anything that is going to turn my dreams into reality today. Why do I have to be such a pessimistic realist? There are probably great opportunities out there for people that aren’t just sales scams. I am still below my goal of $100/week, but I do work a lot. I do realistically make about half of that and could make more if I had more time, but I am not ready to completely work from home or be my own boss, yet. I am still trying to find a work-at-home rainbow.

Triond doesn’t seem like the spot for beginners without much time on their hands. You must also be willing to sell out to the hottest topic list in order to really make bank. All this added to the fact that your articles must be unique equals a tough website for money making purposes. All in all, this is just another post on how to make money writing online, but Triond seems best suited as an alternate money making website for authors to me. As to photography, audio, and video, Triond is probably a blessing in disguise. At least they pay by PayPal.

My Sunflower Staffing Olay ProX Disaster Event

Sunflower staffing offered me an event through a secret shopping website marketing Oil of Olay's new anti-wrinkle cream, ProX . This past weekend was super busy for me. Ultimate multi-tasking skills were needed for this crazy little anti-wrinkle secret shopper/vendor assignment that I picked up for Olay. First of all, let me clarify, these are the things I was working on this weekend:

1. A 40 hour a week temporary full-time marketing position that pays the bills for however long it lasts.

2.Spring Semester finals for Clayton State University . Most of the finals must still be taken on campus, even though the classes are online. Cramming for the finals alone was enough to make one exhausted by the time my event rolled around on Saturday, my last exam date and the day of my Olay event.

3. My work from home position for internetGIRLfriday.com, which takes around 2-3 hours a week depending on the emails.

4. My new boyfriend. Romance is really impossible when you're this busy, and task #4 took a real back seat this weekend. This is still worth mentioning as it did take time and effort.

So, the event seemed to go off without a hitch. The store did not seem to have much product. Only one Pro-x starter kit was available for purchase, but I just assumed that since the paper I had glanced at stated that the staff member could report zero for inventory, that was all the product that was needed at the event. That was the first mistake I made. Here are the mistakes that I learned from at this vendor event.

Staffing mistakes and lessons learned for future reference:

1. Always make sure that you not only check in with the manager, but that you verify the manager's title. Do not assume that the man standing at the door asking you who you are is the manager. This might be the greeter.

2. After checking in with the manager, make sure that you inform him that there is a shortage of inventory if applicable. Work to get the available inventory out on the floor. Letting the assistant manager in on the fact that your inventory is super slim is a necessity from the beginning. There was only one box of product there, and it was my job to sell the product. This really made it difficult, and since I did not check in correctly with the manager in the beginning and inform him of this, it will probably be my fault. The assistant manager was informed; however, and he did not alert me to any left over inventory.

3. Always keep track of your boxes! Never let them out of your site. Put them in your car when you're done. Sam's will crush and throw away your boxes, and you will be left without U.P.S. labels which cost lots of money.

4. Make sure you take care of the small details like activating your debit card, before you reach the store. These small details can take hours. Don't let them interfere with the smoothness of your operation.

Just keep everything flowing easily and know where your supplies are. This seems like such an easy gig, and it is. It is if you know what you're doing before you get there. The event itself was a fun time of free lotion for everyone! The ProX really works. The back of my hand was taut and you could see a noticeable difference before the end of the day from product demonstrations and sampling alone. Plus I got to keep the kit! Win! Win!

Page rank is usually based from 1-10. MySpace has an 8. CNN has a 10. Onion.com has a 7. Bloggernoob.com has a 0. It has to be difficult to get a 3. That’s my goal. How much do you have to pay to get a 3?

Make Money From Home Using Craigslist

For some people, Craigslist works better than eBay. It is an especially good idea for garage sales and large items that can’t be shipped easily. Your bedroom furniture for instance.

Place pictures of your furniture on Craigslist and set the price. Bingo! A neighbor ill normally come pick it up. This is also a free site with no fees, and do not forget to check out their free section for your city! Craigslist also offers many job opportunities, work from home opportunities, and business opportunities. It is a valuable tool for emptying out an old warehouse, and it is one of the most popular sites on the web. It’s mentioned here to contrast it with the eBay posting on Clothing. Craigslist is also a wonderful place to list clothing for sale as well as eBay. Just so that nothing is left out:

I definitely have tons (exaggeration) of clothing to sale. However, I want to make the most. I live in deep South Texas, as close to Mexico as one can get, so getting a good deal from good clothing is hard, I'm referring to Craigslist, as well as you have to meet the person in order to deliver. Those are the only downfalls that I can see. Unless of course what you are selling are larger items.
I have only tried to sell maybe twice on eBay, without success. I can not remember how much they withhold from the sell of items, but if I recall correctly, it is based on how much the item sales for. I see many people jacking up the price on shipping in order to make even more money, which I find very deceptive. So I do appreciate you emphasizing shipping and keeping it inexpensive.
I'll try to cut this short, I can get a bit wordy!

Short on cash? Sell you old clothes on eBay. They sell like crazy! You can place anything sellable on eBay and earn tons of cash from things you never wear. I just made around $50 from selling clothing on eBay. Make sure you mark up the shipping so that you do not lose money on the item. I wouldn’t suggest going out and buying clothing to resell unless you can find dirt cheap deals that no one else in the world can. Sure, the eBay market is saturated, and when I created my listings, there were hundreds of thousands of other listings for men and women’s clothing.

Do not lose hope. My clothing items have sold on the last day at the last minute. It is easy to get discouraged when you have many watchers and not any bidders.Try to sell quality brands at affordable prices. Anne Taylor, Nike, and Old Navy are good options. Your closet really is a goldmine waiting to happen. Think of all the things you never wear. As long as they are in reasonably good shape, you should be able to make at least $3 from each item, sometimes less and sometimes more.

The shipping is very important. You need to ship these items dirt cheap to actually make any real money. Buy plastic envelops and stuff your items inside, or ship in old shoe boxes. Whatever keeps costs low. These items are not fragile, so no fluff and packaging material are needed. Feel free to leave comments and coupon codes regarding the cheapest way to ship an item. I usually find the do it yourself station in the post office the least expensive option. Shipping is so important because it can really cut into the cost of your item, and you will lose all of the money you profited from the sale if you are not careful. Happy eBay yard sales!

Shutterstock.com pays .25 per download. Not too bad, but the minimum payout is $70, and all the photos have to be your own original photos. I am really quite frightened. I had to give them some address verification. To do this, you must upload a state issued id or input your credit card, both of which I hate to do online. I decided to be the guinea pig for you guys, and I chose a credit card without much cash on it. The credit card did not verify my address, so I uploaded a state issued id. I am still nervous. Can’t they just send you a piece of mail like Google does? Before I can submit photos, I must wait 48 hours for my license to be reviewed, so this blog entry will come in two parts. Anyway, that was step 1.

Here is a rule that I thought you guys might want to keep in mind as far as submitting photos of people that I might have missed if I were you:

“Any image of an identifiable person must be accompanied by a model release. Model releases are available on our site and must be submitted digitally; we do not accept faxed, mailed, or any hard copy releases. For submissions containing nude content of artistic value, the model must look at least 25 years of age and the submission must be accompanied by a photo ID of the model. The decision to accept or reject an image containing nudity will be made according to the sole discretion of Shutterstock. Never submit any explicit material. Submissions must not contain violence, x-rated content, or any illegal content according to US law.”

Shutterstock Don’ts:

Don't send images with date stamps or copyright notices.
Don't "frame" your work. We don't take any framed images.
Don't send snapshots. We do not accept photos with heavy shadows from the on-camera flash. Make sure your images have a clear topic and focus.
Don't send 10 pictures of your family pet.
Don't send dark or muddy travel pictures.
Don't send the same image with slight variations on the angle.
Don't send the same image in color, black and white, sepia, and blue tone. Color is enough. If any variation on color actually enhances the image, then you may submit it separately, but we do not want a batch of photos where each is submitted in four different ways.
Don't send similar shots when only one is your favorite. Edit on your own. Keep batch sizes of similar subjects down to the bare minimum.
Don't send flower pictures labeled "Flower" or "Spring Scene". We only accept photos of flowers that are labeled with the scientific or common name. Labeling plants and animals with their scientific names may increase your sales (*Please avoid sending images that we already have a lot of such as sunsets, flowers, nature, etc.*).
Don't submit photos taken from inside an airplane or moving automobile. Consider your composition carefully.

Shutterstock sells monthly subscriptions to others people so that they can download your beautiful, original photos. Users can download up to 750 pictures each month. I wanted to include this excellent video on “How to Sell Items on eBay” because lately I really have been accumulating a small fortune from used clothes from my closet, coupons, and an old laptop. All of these things that normally accumulate dust and moth bites were turned into extra cash online! Take this sweater for instance.

I bought it and never wore it. I didn’t take it back because I always planned on wearing it some day. It is selling right now, and will probably bring me a few extra bucks! eBay is still an excellent way to make money even though I think the market has become very saturated. "The foreign exchange market (Currency, Forex, or FX) market is where currency trading takes place. The foreign exchange market that we see today started evolving during the 1970s when worldover countries gradually switched to floating exchange rate from their erstwhile exchange rate regime, which remained fixed as per the Bretton Woods system till 1971.

Today, the FX market is one of the largest and most liquid financial markets in the world, and includes trading between large banks, central banks, currency speculators, corporations, governments, and other institutions. The average daily volume in the global foreign exchange and related markets is continuously growing. Traditional daily turnover was reported to be over US$3.2 trillion in April 2007 by the Bank for International Settlements.^[2] Since then, the market has continued to grow. According to Euromoney's annual FX Poll, volumes grew a further 41% between 2007 and 2008.^[3]

The purpose of FX market is to facilitate trade and investment. The need for a foreign exchange market arises because of the presence of multifarious international currencies such as US Dollar, Pound Sterling, etc., and the need for trading in such currencies."

There are many benefits and advantages to trading Forex. Here are just a few
reasons why so many people are choosing this market as a business
opportunity:

1. LEVERAGE: In Forex trading, a small margin deposit can control a much
larger total contract value. Leverage gives the trader the ability to make
extraordinary profits and at the same time keep risk capital to a minimum. Some
Forex firms offer 200 to 1 leverage, which means that a $50 dollar margin
deposit would enable a trader to buy or sell $10,000 worth of currencies.
Similarly, with $500 dollars, one could trade with $100,000 dollars and so on.

2. LIQUIDITY: Because the Forex Market is so large, it is also extremely liquid.
This means that with a click of a mouse you can instantaneously buy and sell at
will. You are never 'stuck' in a trade. You can even set the online trading
platform to automatically close your position at your desired profit level (limit
order), and/or close a trade if a trade is going against you (stop order).

3. PROFIT IN BOTH 'RISING' AND 'FALLING' MARKETS: On the stock
markets, you can only make money if shares are rising, but in economic
recession and falling 'bear' markets, there is little chance of making big money.
Forex is different. One of the most exciting advantages of FX trading is the ability
to generate profits whether a currency pair is 'up' or 'down'. A trader can profit
by taking a 'long' position, (buying the currency pair at one price and selling it
later at a higher price), or a 'short' position, (selling the currency pair and buying
it back at a lower price). For example, if you think the US dollar will increase in
value vs. the Japanese Yen then you will buy Dollars and sell Yen (go long). If
you think the Yen will increase in value against the Dollar then you will sell
Dollars and buy yen (go short). As long as the trader picks the right direction, a
potential for profit always exists.

4. 24 HRS: From Sunday evening to Friday Afternoon EST the Forex market
never sleeps. This is very desirable for those who want to trade on a part-time
basis, because you can choose when you want to trade--morning, noon or night.

5. FREE 'DEMO' ACCOUNTS, NEWS, CHARTS AND ANALYSIS: Most Online
Forex firms offer free 'Demo' accounts to practice trading, along with breaking
Forex news and charting services. These are very valuable resources for traders
who would like to hone their trading skills with 'virtual' money before opening a
live trading account.

6. 'MINI' TRADING: One might think that getting started as a currency trader
would cost a lot of money. The fact is, it doesn't. Online Forex Firms now offer
'mini' trading accounts with a minimum account deposit of only $200-$500 with

Starting a business can be overwhelming enough trying to get up and running but when you think about all the tax requirements, your cup may runneth over. Here is what you must know in order to start your own business on the right foot and avoid paying penalties and interest which can cost more than paying an accountant to do things right the first time.

WHAT FORM OF BUSINESS SHOULD YOU SET UP WHEN STARTING YOUR BUSINESS?

There are several different options including a sole proprietorship, partnership, corporation, S corporation or limited liability company. In general a sole proprietorship works fine if you are very small, not too profitable and aren’t concerned about legal liability issues. A partnership is like being married to the other partners. If you aren’t that cozy with them, you may want to set up another type of entity. Corporations are best suited for business owners who want personal legal protection and have profit available beyond what they will need for their personal use. S Corporations are best when you are operating at a loss and want business owner legal protection. DO YOU NEED AN EMPLOYER IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (EIN) WHEN YOU START YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

You need an employer identification number if you have employees, have a qualified retirement plan, operate as a corporation or a partnership, or need to file employment or excise tax returns. You do not need an employer identification number if you are a sole proprietor and don’t meet any of the requirements above.

WHAT METHOD CAN YOU USE TO ACCOUNT FOR YOUR INCOME AND EXPENSES WHEN YOU START YOUR SMALL BUSINESS?

The two most common methods are cash and accrual. The cash method in general allows you to report income and expenses in the tax year you receive it. The accrual method in general allows you to report income and expenses in the tax year you earn or incur it even if you haven’t received payment or paid it yet.

WHAT KINDS OF FEDERAL TAXES WILL YOU OWE WHEN STARTING A BUSINESS?

All businesses must file a return. The form used depends on what form of business you set up when starting your business. The federal income tax is a pay-as-you-go tax. In general you must pay the tax as you earn or receive income during the year to avoid penalties and interest if your tax liability for the year exceeds $1,000 including self employment tax for sole proprietors, partners and S corporation shareholders. Corporations should make estimated quarterly payments if they expect to owe $500 for the year. Estimated tax payments are due quarterly. Penalties and interest can be hefty so you should make sure you comply in order to avoid wasting money on IRS penalties.

WHAT TAXES ARE DUE IF YOU HAVE EMPLOYEES IN YOUR SMALL BUSINESS?

Your small business must pay social security and Medicare taxes, federal income tax withholding, federal unemployment tax along with your state and local income taxes. The associated tax returns for reporting these taxes are in general filed quarterly. Your business is entrusted to pay these taxes on behalf of your employees and not only do you have penalties and interest that you will pay for not filing them timely but can also be committing a crime due to the fiduciary responsibility. You need to be sure you know what you are doing here as the consequences could be costly.

WHAT RECORDS SHOULD YOU KEEP WHEN YOU START YOUR BUSINESS?

Except in a few cases, the law does not require any specific kinds of records. The most important thing to ask yourself is can you go back to all of the original receipts from the number on your return. If you were to be asked by an IRS agent to provide all the details of a certain number on your return, and you can not do that, you will be at his whim on whether he will allow that deduction. An efficient accounting system with a solid audit trail which has been reconciled is the safest way to be sure you have done this.

I do not have time to take it right now, but I am writing this posting for the sole purpose of reminding myself to look at this site as soon as my new laptop arrives. It should arrive on Tuesday. I am very excited about the arrival of my new laptop, but onto Odesk.com.

Job hunters are called "Providers" on Odesk.com. Here providers can register, build their online profile, take free online certifications, and apply to jobs to get started on Odesk. There are over 100 free online multiple choice tests. I think this is an awesome idea because not only do you mainly receive jobs that are suited to your abilities this way, but you skills will be proven and undisputable. You can receive job alerts or set up an rss feed. 70% of jobs feature an upfront payment here, which is awesome! I love Associated Content because they offer upfront payment! You will also have a detailed Odesk profile.

This is a global site with global rates. Unfortunately for some, it is a lot lower than the average American salary, but there are many competitive salaries and offers. Here is one example:

Hourly: $3,125 (843 hours)
Fixed-Price: $1,070 (5 projects)
Total: 35 posted, 13 paid

This roughly translates to $3.71 per hour, half of our minimum wage. This is an administrative assistant position that mainly deals in internet research, etc. Much better than Amazon Turk, but still lacking as far as a livable US wage. If you can develop email server applications, you may be paid:

This is around $15 an hour, which isn't too bad. Odesk averages 388 jobs posted with an average

Robert Gruenberg makes money juggling chainsaws in Venice. You can sing, dance, do magic tricks, play a musical instrument, tell jokes, juggle, or mime. I do not do much work for them because I am so busy with college, a part time job, and my forays into the work from home experience. This is an apply to work position. The company is a team of virtual assistants that offers these services:

managing client's facebook profiles

sending press releases

bookkeeping

arranging travel

tracking business

updating websites

sending newsletters

giving remote computer support

placing calls

setting up appts/meetings, ordering gifts/groceries online

This is a really fun company to work for. I absolutely love the work, and the payment was easy and quick. She is a legit company that pays, and the experience is what makes the position so awesome for me. I have learned so much since I started there. 2. Associated Content is probably second, but only because I received a $10 bonus for publishing more than 5 pieces in December. I also received $3 for a piece I published on population control. Associated Content is a reliable, trustworthy source. I am not the best, most practiced writer in the world, so my payouts are low. You do actually have to do work. Besides the upfront payments, you also receive residual CPM payments. Mine are slow in coming ($1.09 so far), but this is real money. I like Associated Content. It's fun to see your name in print.

3. eHow comes in third with a payment of $12.63 from Demand Media, eHow's alias. These are my eHow stats:

As you can see, I have put a lot of work into the $12.63, but next month I should make around $5 or $6 dollars for the same articles, and so on and so on ad infinitum....

4. I received $1.47 for selling my time and effort cutting (disclaimer) coupons on eBay. This helped pay for my newspaper subscription, and at least someone who could use the coupons in this troubled, murky economy received them. I also made $38.37 for a harddrive that I wasn't using, but you can hardly call this profit since I paid $80.00 for it 3 months ago.

5. I also received an $8.00 check from a secret shopping job that I did for Sara Lee.

This month, the blog did not make any money. My Google Adsense was cancelled for some reason before reaching minimum payout amount. Here's what they said:
